Gift Store
04:12
|
|||
I went in to a little gift store
looking for a gift, found a little bit more
I looked up and looking back at me
prettiest thing that you ever did see
and I felt my soul
a spark in my soul
Well I was always shy
but I dug deep
looking for some courage and the words to speak
I saw her smile and I made the leap
Would you maybe want to take a walk with me?
and I felt my soul
sparks in my soul
I went in to a little gift store
looking for a gift, found a whole lot more
Minutes turned to hours, and days into weeks
What would you think about marrying me?
and I found my soul

Another day has slipped away,
waves goodbye in a lonely pastel sky
I don't want to stay in
don't want to stay in this eve
Vacant days since you've been away
The well is dry and I've gone awry
I just want to stay in
just want to stay in and breathe
No, I don't know what's going on
No, I don't now know what's happening
Plant a seed to watch it grow
Will magic come with care?
A passion play that's been told forever,
a loop of hope and despair
endlessly stretched before me
No, I don't know what's going on
No, I don't know what's happening
Sudden shapes appear
in my eyes and ears
pressing for release
I come alive
when I see them flashing for me
No, I don't know what's going on
No, I don't know what's happening
What is happening

Ten
06:20
|

One is the color of loneliness
Two's the sound of a divide
Three's another way to say two against one
Four will only even the fight
And don't get me started on five, and six and seven, eight, nine
If bad design was on a scale of one to nine, this world's a ten
But one is the sound that a buddha sees
And two is what it takes to unite
Three is what baby makes
And four is the friend you invite
And the more the merrier with five, and six and seven, eight, nine
Feeling fine—on a scale of one to nine
This world's a ten
Planets spin
Skies bring day, and then bring night
Worlds beneath, full of darkness then of light
Lives within, riding on the changing tides
But what's behind our eyes?
Wonder what thoughts I'll be seeing today
tombs or ever-renewing life?
But I'm free to choose whether I'm gonna latch on
or just let them bubble away
like clouds in the shapes of a five, or a six and seven, eight, nine
While my mind looks for ones and nines, the sky's a ten
Life's sublime
On a scale of one to nine, this day's a ten

Out of Nowhere
04:12

Stephen looks down and sighs
and says, 'I must be one of those guys
destined to go it alone'
Then walking home, he meets Joan
and life changes out of nowhere
Working from day to day
Stephen don't feel like he's on his way
He feels like he's boxing the air
But once he's there, the path he took looks clear as sunshine
It's the same every day, and it happens to me
One minute you're down, then you're back on your feet
Running aground, or adrift and at sea
Keep you head up, man
or you might miss the next thing
Stephen lifts up his eyes
and sees door after door open wide
Ponders which he will choose
Then walking through, the next doors open
out of nowhere

In My Dreams
03:42
|

I come alive when I see it in my dreams
Wasting time when I see it in my dreams
Vision to guide me in my dreams
Fantasies that blind me in my dreams
Thinking 'bout what could be all the time
passing through the moments in my mind
Inspired or escaping, where's the line?
Think about the trip and miss the ride

What Waits
04:14
|
|||
Time, I've got nothing but time at all
to chase labors of like
And Time is a goddess of rise and fall
and change
is her only delight
And as I wander through a world I've never seen
don't know what waits for me
Space, floating in space again
unrooted in time
Waves lapping my place again
and wind eroding every asylum
And as I wander through a world I've never seen
don't know what waits for me
And I am a bubble in time
in awe
of time's eternity

Better All the Time
04:51
|
|||
I wrote a letter full of feelings
and I sent it to me
folded into an envelope addressed to you
A magic spell of healing
thrown into the sea
just to make sure its aim was true
So if you don't mind dancing with a one-legged man
to a song drifting in and out of time
And if you're ok sitting 'round a fire that won't light
having deep conversations with a mime
It's getting better all the time
My old friend Complication paid a visit to me
I gather he's been spending some time with you, too
bearing gifts of obligation
I could not foresee
And when he left he said, 'see you soon'
But if you don't mind driving down an unlabeled road
to a place you may never actually find
And if you're ok sitting at the top of the slide,
if the view there is all part of the ride
It's getting better all the time
So if you don't mind silence (heaven's only reply)
And if meaning is just what we supply
And if you'd care to share a spell of meaning with me
well sit down, have another glass of wine
It's getting better all the time
